Depression is a mood disorder that includes sadness, anger that interferes with a person’s daily activities. Many people experience this in some or the other way. Therefore, it is important to realize that feeling down at times is a normal part of life. But if we are feeling down regularly we could be dealing with depression, it is a serious mental condition which must be treated properly with care. This topic is familiar to everyone but still, people make fun of others especially who are going through such point in their lives.

Depression can be divided into three parts: mild, moderate, severe. For example, a person with mild depression will have some difficulty in continuing with the work, but when it reaches to severe part the person is unlikely to be able to continue with social work and domestic activities. It is experienced differently among men, women, and children. Men and women may experience anger, restlessness, irritability, feeling empty, sadness. Behavioural and physical changes such as loss of interest, thoughts of suicide, low energy, changes in appetite. Children may experience different symptoms such as; difficulty in concentration, declination in their grades, and not active in other school activities.

Living daily with such serious conditions can be difficult, but since life is given only once so proper treatment can help to improve the quality of life who is suffering. It can be treated in a combined way with medication and therapy. Medications that are commonly used; antidepressants and light therapy. There are some alternative therapies, which include exercising for 30 minutes any physical activity for 3-4 days a week increases blood rate and endorphins, avoiding alcohol and drugs, taking care of our health: getting plenty of sleep, eating healthy food, avoiding negative people, learning to say NO, talking to parents and close friends, visiting a counsellor and sharing with them can help more in relieving stress to get worse in future and keeping it to ourselves. It is easier to say these remedies but if someone who is dealing with this problem might help him/her only if we stand together to help them. We all know that miracles don’t happen in a day, it takes years of practice. Therefore, taking into consideration and knowing all facts putting one step forward will help to build and change the future by pushing and letting it go.
